Baltimore Orioles, recently we have had one eating from the humming bird feeders?
I live in Ohio and was startled last Thursday by this bright flash of orange outside the windows. Ive never seen one of the birds. I took a picture of him and searched on line to find out what type of bird he was. Now he is at the humming bird feeders several times a day. Do they normally like nectar?
Yes, Orioles do drink nectar, just like hummingbirds. The only difference between them is the size and color of the feeders. Hummingbird feeders are small and red, while Oriole feeders are larger with perches, and colored orange.
Along with nectar, they also eat insects and berries, fruit and jellies – and especially love orange halves and grape jelly.
