What is the best type of wood for use in a log home handcrafted?
I just bought some land that has a bit of poplar and spruce douglas minmal spread around. I want to build my own log house, whenever I search all I get is someone who wants to sell me one. I want to build myself without having to buy a starter kit. Help! Thanks a bunch
To respond directly to the Q,,, any of its properties. With all due respect there are few or no forest that will not eventually be affected by the environment, etc., and are degraded in some fashion. Indeed, what use could have a long life if left untreated. Alamo Wood is a great end to a sweet grain for staining, fir and spruce are often found as an alternative frame construction. I guess you do not want a house kit, and hundreds of manufacturers are valid, then perhaps you are not interested in buying this type of registration better able to give a more natural and life. Regardless of their choice, and again, no offense, if you have the skills necessary to build a log home, I really want to assume that you have knowledge of the properties of various species of trees and wood. Consider natural wood can withstand the elements and insects. Certainly, no one could build a log home TEKA, or bamboo, but the creation of a food source for insects out of what exists on your property can not be a wise choice either.
